Break the Black

They say that the key to a successful total black look is to mix different textures. Silk and lace, lace and denim, denim and fur, fur and leather, leather and silk… and so on. But what if we do not want to look like black widow (the spider, not the comic character)? My idea is to break the all-black with one or two accessories of a colour . Depending on the effect we want to achieve it can be something subtle, like golden jewellery or a nude clutch but, judging by what I see on the street, often it is something much bolder, like a red or fuchsia handbag, blue jewellery or a green belt.
To illustrate it, today I’d like to show you one look from Las Palmas and two snapshots from Barcelona, where I was three weeks ago.

Although you can't see it in the photos, the woman was wearing a crop top, so we could say that the colour of hel belly was an additional audacious addition to her outfit ;)

Leida (from Cape Verde) sported a black microdress of fluffy texture, thighs with sheer stripes, which are hardly visible on her dark skin, and a black zipped cardigan. She accessorised the look with accessories in audacious colours. The total look is quite a bold one but then that’s what I like most 😉

For a Carnaval party for which I did not want to dress up as, umm, whatever, I took my own advice and I chose the look below. How did I do?
Oh, and the top I’m waering is my own design 🙂
